The last journey (Day 5) of London Fashion Week AW13 has been bustling and exciting, full of movement, rain of trends and eclectic Streetstyle.
La última jornada (Día 5) de la Semana de la Moda de Londres OI13 ha sido bulliciosa y emocionante, llena de movimiento, lluvia de las tendencias y estilos de la calle eclécticos.
Exhibitions have shown us again the last trends for next autumn / winter season, offering a curated selection of well-known and raw brands.
Las exposiciones nos han demostrado una vez más cuáles son las últimas tendencias para el próximo otoño / invierno 2013, ofreciendo una cuidada selección de marcas conocidas y también amateurs.
As a conclusion, we may say that London Fashion Week AW13 has offered much more than everyone expected although the hard times society is living. Risky proposals have fight with the art of doing things well. New trends are following a minimal-rustic flow and essentially color palette is composed by black, white, blue, grey, ocres and reddish pigments.
Como conclusión, podemos decir que la Semana de la Moda de Londres OI13 ha ofrecido mucho más de lo que todo el mundo esperaba a pesar de que la sociedad está viviendo tiempos difíciles. Propuestas arriesgadas se enfrentan con el arte de hacer bien las cosas. Las nuevas tendencias están tomando un rumbo minimal-rústico y la paleta de colores está esencialmente compuesta por negro, blanco, azul, gris, colores ocres y pigmentos rojizos.

London Fashion Week – Day 2
The second journey of London Fashion Week has not disappoint at all. After a cup of coffee at the Media Lounge and a The Body Shop make-up session, at 11:30 we enjoyed the -Merit Award Winner – Yifang Wan Autumn/Winter 2013 womenswear catwalk show at Freemansons Hall.
La segunda jornada de la Semana de la Moda de Londres no ha decepcionado en absoluto. Después de una taza de café en el Salón de prensa y una sesión de maquillaje en el stand de The Body Shop, a las 11:30 hemos podido disfrutar de el desfile de la – ganadora del concurso de nuevos diseñadores – Yifang Wan, Otoño / Invierno 2013 en el Freemansons Hall.
Reestablishing the notion that less really is more, Wan projected a consistent image of minimalism, an image that doesn’t take a lot to recall, but so much to conjure into being. She went on to further convey a fierce degree of wit by revealing a multitude of ways to wear gigantic silver spiked cuffs. The metal formation first appeared at the models wrist. Conventional, and yet the oversize design still had an alienating quality. It then jumped from wrist to neck, to waist, to shoulder and so on, with each model sporting their own unique design.
A partir del restablecimiento de la idea de que menos es más, Wan proyecta una imagen coherente del minimalismo, una imagen que no necesita mucho para hacernosla recordar, pero que evocar cuya existencia. Style on and off the catwalk was sky-high and the buzz around Somerset House was tangible and contagious. We have seen risky outfits from head to toes and showrooms discovered us the next trends for next season.

Scoop International Fashion Show 2013
Scoop International is once again at the Saatchi Gallery on the King’s Road, London. Located near Sloane Square station, the gallery is one of Europe’s most renowned venues dedicated to contemporary art. From 10-12 February 2013 the fifth edition of Scoop International will show more than 250 emerging and established labels, also curated around the exhibition ‘Gaiety’ focusing on Russian paintings and sculpture.
Alongside buying the most covetable collections for next season, visitors will be able to enjoy Scoop International’s not-to-be-missed exclusive events taking place within the gallery. The Scoop Café and bars will be serving themed and interesting menus for the February show.

No Noise space located inside Selfridges in London, Birmingham and Manchester is a space where it is intended that the visitor-buyer can abstract from the overdose of information it is usually exposed.
Two hours with Raimund Berthold (the interview)
Located in a small street in London’s Soho area Raimund Berthold, Austrian men fashion designer with already six collections, has set up his studio. His designs have Japanese-style touches, but he afirms it is not his intention, he has no direct relation with it and in fact, he has never been there.
Although he would love it. He likes colors but he mainly wears black. He always uses the same model of trousers but the brand remains as a secret. And he loves coffee but not milk. We spent two wonderful hours talking about him, his career, his concerns and also mines… On the meantime Jam by Planningtorock was playing background: Janine Rostron, better known by her stage name, is an English electronic musician and record producer who lives in Berlin, Germany.
He has no relatives or family related to fashion but he says he always wanted to work in fashion. In 2005 he graduated on the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London and in 2010 he established his studio and launched his brand.

muymia – Did you wear your own designs?
‘Always. But also buy clothes from other brands’ – R.B.
muymia – Please describe your creative process:
‘I like going for a walk, observe and take pictures on the street, reading books… Then I create a mood panel (which it only makes sense to me), and then I start sketching until I am slowly developing the collection’– R.B.
muymia – Tell me something you don’t like to be asked in an interview:
‘I do not like when the press asks me from where I get my inspiration, because I do not know what to say. In general I do not like working with themes’ – R.B.
muymia – Where do you sell your collections?
‘In London you can find and purchase my designs in Other shop. I also sell on thenumber4 in Kuvait and on Life store in Saudi Arabia. And now I’m meeting with some Japanese buyers who are interested in my creations.’ – R.B.
muymia – Please tell me more about your new collection…
‘For the AW13.14 collection i have been experimenting with shapes, there are some much slimmer silhouettes combines with my oversized shapes. There is also quite a bit of layering going on. The fabrics range from thick wool and felt to nylon and cotton. I have also use some waxed, waterproof cottons. The trousers are either very wide indeed or very slim fit.’ – R.B.
muymia – What are your next projects?, Any special collaboration?
‘I will be starting a project with my friend Ashley Joyner soon. He is a young and very talented art director. We will be working on a short film and prints together.’ – R.B.
muymia – What do you think about the man fashion panorama?
‘Menswear has become much more interesting in recent years. I think its because men in general have become more interesting to design for. They are much more willing to take a risk and have more fun with fashion.’ – R.B.
muymia – Please tell me something curious about you…
‘I always use the same model of jeans. Black and tight, but the brand is a secret…’ – R.B.
En una pequeña calle del Soho de Londres tiene su estudio Raimund Berthold, más conocido como diseñador austríaco de moda hombre con seis colecciones a sus espaldas. Sus diseños tienen pinceladas de estilo japonés, pero afirma que no es su intención, no tiene relación directa y además nunca ha estado allí. Aunque le encantaría. Le gustan los colores pero siempre viste de negro. Utiliza siempre el mismo modelo de pantalones pero la marca es un secreto. Y adora el café pero siempre sin leche. Pasamos dos maravillosas horas hablando de su persona, su trayectoria, sus inquietudes y las mias… Y de fondo sonaba Jam de Planningtorock: su nombre real es Janine Rostron, conocido músico inglés especializado en música electrónica y también productor musical residente en Berlin, Alemania.
No tiene ningún vinculo familiar directo pero asegura que siempre quiso dedicarse a la moda. En 2005 se graduó en la prestigiosa Central saint Martins College of Arts and Design de Londres y en el año 2010 estableció su estudio y lanzó su marca.

muymia – Háblame de tu nueva colección…
‘Para la colección AW13.14 he estado experimentando con formas, hay algunas siluetas mucho más delgadas combinado con mis formas de gran tamaño. También hay un poco de juego de capas. Los tejidos van desde la gruesa lana al nylon o el algodón. También he utilizado algunos algodones encerados e impermeables. Los pantalones son, o bien muy amplios, o muy estrechos y ajustados.‘ – R.B.
muymia – ¿Cuáles son tus próximo proyectos?, ¿Alguna colaboración especial?
‘Pronto voy a empezar un proyecto con mi amigo Ashley Joyner. Ashley es un director de arte joven y muy talentoso. Vamos a grabar juntos un cortometraje juntos.‘ – R.B.
muymia – ¿Qué piensas sobre el panorama actual de la moda masculina?
‘La moda masculina se ha vuelto mucho más interesante en estos últimos años. Creo que es porque en general los diseñadores se han vuelto más interesantes a la hora de crear. Además ahora los hombres están mucho más dispuestos a asumir riesgos y tener más diversión con la moda’ – R.B.

Saachi Gallery London, today!
(en) The Saatchi Gallery aims to provide an innovative forum for contemporary art, presenting work by largely unseen young artists or by international artists whose work has been rarely or never exhibited in the UK.
The audience for exhibitions of contemporary art has increased widely during the recent years as general awareness and interest in contemporary art has developed both in Britain and abroad.
When The Saatchi Gallery first opened over twenty five years ago it was only those who had a dedicated interest in contemporary art who sought out the gallery to see work by new artists. The audience, however, built steadily over the years and by the time the gallery left its second home at County Hall, visitor numbers reached 600,000 per annum, with over 1,000 schools organising student visits.
The Saatchi Gallery has worked with media sponsors on a number of shows including The Observer, The Sunday Times, Evening Standard, The Independent on Sunday and Time Out.
Many artists showing at The Saatchi Gallery are unknown when first exhibited, not only to the general public but also to the commercial art world. Many of these artists are subsequently offered shows by galleries and museums internationally. In this effect, the gallery also operates as a springboard for young artists to launch their careers.
Right now there are 5 different exposition available with free entry. And here’s a preview:

New challenges. Things are changing…
Dear Barcelona, I am leaving for a while. I need some fresh air to fill me up with new inputs, to look to the future and although I hate to admit it, to become independent. I’m moving to my second home, a place where opportunities constantly flow (if you go for it and you take advantage), a place where people speak my same language and a place where I can be 100% me without having to justify myself. Traveling is my biggest passion, I consider myself a traveller and although this is a trip I’ve always wanted to do, finally I have decided to do it. I am leaving with a big smile, strongly, with the indisputable support of my family and friends and with the intention to conquer the world. Some people trust me and they know I will make it (including myself). I will not let them down because I will fight until the end, I will enjoy every second and I will return to my city FULL of everything. See you in a month and a half (for now). Wherever I go I will say I am yours and you will always be the first and the only one.
Querida Barcelona, te dejo una temporada. Necesito coger aire, llenarme de inputs nuevos, mirar hacia el futuro y aunque me cueste admitirlo, espavilarme. Me voy a mi segundo hogar, un lugar donde fluyen las oportunidades (si sabes ir a buscarlas y aprovecharlas), donde se habla mi mismo idioma y donde puedo ser yo al 100% sin tener que justificarme. Margot Bowman ‘Exclusive interview’
With 22 years old she’s already considered as an Off-beat illustrator artist and also DJ living in London.
Currently she is the creative director of The Estethetica Review, a publication focused on ethical fashion published biannually in conjunction with the British Fashion Council. Other ongoing projects include the Painted Truths series for Notion Magazine, and AnOther Fashion Cartoon for Another Magazine and everythingissoamazing.com. As a fashion designer Margot Bowman has showcased her S/S 2012 capsule collection ‘Albion 2080’ – Clothes for British Women of the Future. Inspired by a sustainable mentality, Margot manages to turn the organic, earthy tones associated with recycled fashion on their head with her unique, painterly graphic style. Margot’s collaged creation can be seen as a part of WGSN (Online leader Trend Forecast service) A/W 13/14 print and graphic forecast, referencing the DIY aesthetics seen in hack-tivate.
Hello Margot. Please, tell me whatever remarkable of your childhood: We had a pet tortoise called Frank, he liked eating rose petals and jam sándwiches.
Describe yourself (in one or two sentence): I’m curious and I want to change the world.
You’re considered an Off-beat illustrator artist. What does this description mean to you? I think off-beat is pretty accurate! I never want to make work that conforms to expectation, things need to stay fresh and unexpected to ensure that people know that things can be done differently.
You are now living in London, how does this fact affect you? I love London. I think its a great place to experiment and not be too boxed in. People here celebrate creativity and youth so right now its a really good space for me to make work in. Its also a city with contrast totally ingrained in its identity and that’s a really big theme in my work so its great to have that constantly refreshed.
How would you define your painterly graphic style? I think whatever medium I’m working with color is very important in my work. Its the most basic form of non-verbal communication and i think what ever medium I use thats a huge part of what I’m looking for out of the work. Also I think the way I execute my work is very much about control, so with the way I work with acrylic it can be very graphic, very controlled but with ink and water color its all about totally letting go and allowing the medium to be in charge.
Please tell us more about your first capsule collection ‘Albion 2080’: I think fashion and all culture are at its best when it shows the use of new futures, when it allows us to image and therefore act out new ways of being, new normals. So for me the collection was a way to imagine what fashion would be in a world without any factories or shops. The women in the collection are a community and they use decoration to denote their personalities and affinity, the only tools they have are the left over clothes and paint and this is the result. I also wanted to find a visual language about british women that was forward looking and not stuck in the pin-up 1940’s style that you see so often. Its 2012 we must be modern!
In your opinion… How will ‘British Women’ will be in the Future? I think they will have to be more highly skilled. We are moving into a post carbon age; building, hunting, fortune telling, hair cutting will all be traded on a skills for skill basis so we need to be good at things!
How does it feel to be selected to be part of WGSN’s A/W 13/14 print and graphic forecast? That was a really great thing and it definitely inspired me to keep making work like this.
Do you consider yourself as a ‘fashion designer’? I think that my work isn’t about these kind of labels, there are people who’s work is specific and there are others who’s ideas are specific. At the moment I think I’m in the latter group.

Actualmente es la directora creativa de la revista The Estethetica Review, una publicación centrada en la moda ética que se publica dos veces al año en conjunto con el Consejo Británico de la Moda. Otros proyectos en curso incluyen las series Painted Truths en Notion Magazine, y AnOther Fashion Cartoon para Another Magazine y para everythingissoamazing.com. Como diseñadora de moda Margot Bowman acaba de dar a conocer su colección cápsula ‘Albion 2080′ S/S 2012 – Ropa para Mujeres británicas del futuro. Inspirada por una mentalidad sostenible, Margot se las arregla para moldear lo orgánico y los tonos terrosos asociados a la moda reciclada con su estilo único y pictórico-gráfico. La creación de collage de Margot ya se exibe como una parte de WGSN (Servicio Online Líder en Pronóstico de tendencias) en la sección de impresión y gráficos para O/I 13/14, haciendo referencia a la estética HTM (Hazlo Tu Mismo) visto en hack-tivate.
Hola Margot. Por favor, cuéntanos algo destacable sobre tu infancia: Teníamos una tortuga como mascota que se llamaba Frank, le gustaba comer pétalos de rosa y sándwiches de mermelada.
Descríbete (en una o dos frases): Soy una persona curiosa y quiero cambiar el mundo.
Estás considerada un artista ilustradora ‘fuera de compás’. ¿Qué significa esta descripción para ti? ¡Creo que ‘fuera de compás’ es una descripción bastante exacta! No me gusta hacer el trabajo ajustándome a las expectativas, las cosas tienen que mantenerse frescas e inesperadas para asegurar que la gente sepa que las cosas pueden hacerse de otra manera.
Ahora estás viviendo en Londres, ¿cómo te afecta este hecho? Me encanta Londres. Creo que es un gran lugar para experimentar y no estar demasiado encorsetado. Aquí la gente celebra la creatividad y la juventud, por lo que este espacio es realmente bueno para desarrollar trabajo. También es una ciudad con un contraste totalmente arraigado a su identidad y este es un tema muy importante en mi trabajo, así que es genial tenerlo constantemente renovado.
¿Cómo definirías tu estilo gráfico-pictórico? Creo que para mí el color es muy importante sea cual sea el medio en el que esté trabajando. Es la forma más básica de comunicación no-verbal y creo que sea cual sea el medio que utilize esa es una parte muy importante de lo que estoy buscando para mi obra. También creo que mi forma de llevar a cabo mi trabajo tiene mucho que ver con el control, así que cuando trabajo con acrílico puede ser muy gráfico, muy controlado, pero con tinta y acuarela todo es cuestión de dejarse llevar por completo permitiendo que el medio esté a cargo.
Por favor, cuéntanos más acerca de tu primera colección cápsula ‘Albion 2080’: Creo que la moda y la cultura está en su mejor momento cuando muestra el uso de nuevos futuros, cuando se nos permite la imagen y representar nuevas formas de ser, nuevos ‘normales’. Para mí la colección es una manera de imaginar lo que sería la moda en un mundo sin ningún tipo de fábricas o tiendas. Las mujeres de la colección son una comunidad y utilizan la decoración para denotar su personalidad y afinidad, las únicas herramientas que tienen son los restos de ropa, la pintura y este es el resultado. También quería encontrar un lenguaje visual de las mujeres británicas de carácter prospectivo y no pegado a la década pin-up de 1940 que se ve muy a menudo. Estamos en el año 2012 tenemos que ser modernos!
Has llamado a tu colección: ‘Ropa para las mujeres británicas del futuro’. En tu opinión… ¿Cómo crees que será la mujer británica en el futuro? Creo que van a tener que ser incluso más cualificadas. Cada vez más nos estamos moviendo hacia una era post-carbono, creación, caza, adivinación, incluso el corte de pelo se negociará en función de las habilidades, por lo que tenemos que ser buenos en cosas!
¿Qué se siente al ser seleccionada para formar parte del análisis O/I 13/14 sobre estampación y gráfica de WGSN? Es una cosa realmente genial y definitivamente esto me inspiró a seguir trabajando.
¿Te consideras “diseñadora de moda”? Creo que mi trabajo no trata sobre este tipo de etiquetas, hay gente cuyo trabajo es específico y otros cuyas ideas son específicas. Por el momento creo que estoy en el último grupo.
