Can you imagine to clean a shirt only with the rays of the sun, without water or detergent? A recent study published on the magazine Applied Materials & Interfaces revealed that researchers at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) have already achieved it. His invention works because of cotton fabric covered with dioxide of titanio nanoparticles and nitrogen and an extra layer of silver iodide. When these nanoparticles receive the sunlight, the elements work together forcing the electrons to be separated and so the dirt falls off.

To prove the effectiveness of this invention, engineers have used orange dye into a fabric and then they’ve exposed it to the sun light. Two hours later the 71% of the stain was gone.

Un estudio reciente publicado en la revista Applied Materials & Interfaces revela que investigadores de la Universidad Shanghai Jiao Tong (China) ya lo han conseguido. Su invento es un tejido de algodón cubierto por nanopartículas de dióxido de titanio con nitrógeno y una capa extra de yoduro de plata. Cuando reciben la luz del sol, estos elementos trabajan juntos obligando a que los electrones se separen y a que la suciedad se desprenda.

Para probar si su invento era eficaz, los ingenieros mancharon las telas con tinte naranja y las expusieron al sol: después de dos horas a la luz, el 71% de la mancha había desaparecido.
