Fine Art is made by real people…
The good thing about my profession as fashion journalist and Coolhunter is that you get to know many people, sometimes very interesting people… And that is how I met Saray Martin or maybe I should call her by its alter ego, Dans Vogue.
Any given afternoon Saray and me we met as two strangers into the blogger universe. We find out we do have the same age and same principles by chance…
And after discovering her drawings and his work as an illustrator it began a friendship between us. I asked her if she could portray me through her eyes and now it’s time to introduce you to the artist:
1. Please describe yourself in one sentence… Passionate, positive, a bit weird and a good friend of my friends.
2. Tell me about a memory from the childhood… I could tell you about many things about my childhood. I was so happy that I have many memories. One of them is the long hours spent with my pen drawing everywhere like in my room, car, holidays… I’ve always liked creating my own stories and dreaming a lot.
3. What are your studies? Advertising graphics.
4. What do you do ‘to make a living’? I work as a Community Manager in a communication agency.
5. Who is Dans Vogue? It’s me, a person who likes to express herself just as it is. Although sometimes has some insecurities I always fight for what I want, even if it’s hard to get. I like everything that has to do with art: painting, dancing, fashion, photography… I love being with family, with friends but also travel a lot!
6. How did you start in the blogging world? It all started when I went to live with my boyfriend. I did not know anyone in the neighbourbooh so I decided to carry out several things. As retaking dancing, work, new activities… I also decided to open a social network where to show some of my photographs and my daily outfits. I enjoyed meeting people who likes fashion as much as me. Finally I decided to open my blog to express myself more extensively and to publish everything that inspires me.
7. So tell me more about your last job as a blogger… My latest work has been a shooting for the new jewelry collection Wihelmina Garcia.
8. What does fashion mean to you? Although it sounds like a cliché, for me Fashion is a way of expression. I dress exactly how I feel every day. I like to discover new designers and look for wonderful pieces of those who became and still are great. I love vintage fashion, thinking about the history of each piece, who wear it and why.
9. Tell me more about you as an illustrator. So I do artworks too. I was born with a pencil under the arm. Even if people like it or not, drawing for me it is a way to getting away, to dream and to create whatever it comes to my head. I would keep drawing although no one ever will see it.
10. Please tell me about your last drawing… The latest artwork I’ve done it has been for a future mum’s website. The website helps women ‘How to become a mum’ before the birth of its baby. So I’ve shown that with my illustrations.
11. Any plans for the future? I do not usually think too much about the future since I like to live day by day, you never know… But yes I do dream a lot. I’d love to collaborate more with my artwork, for example for a fashion magazine. I also have a new project in mind, but shhh… Still a secret.
12. What do you ask in life? To be happy with the people I love. Any that’s a lot!
13. And finally… How did you meet muymia? I met her in an event, we like each other and later I discovered a fantastic person with many things to tell to the world 😉
Lo bueno que tiene mi profesión de Periodista de moda y Coolhunter es que conoces a mucha gente, algunas veces gente muy interesante… Y un poco así es como conocí a Saray Martin. O quizás la conozcas por su alter ego, Dans Vogue.
Una tarde cualquiera nos conocimos como dos principiantes en el universo blogger. La casualidad nos hizo tener la misma edad y los mismos principios… Y tras descubrir sus dibujos y su faceta como ilustradora empezó una amistad. Le pedí que me retratara a través de sus ojos y ahora es el momento de presentarte a la artista:
Descríbete en una frase… Apasionada, positiva, algo “rara” y muy amiga de mis amigos.
Una memoria de infancia… Me vienen muchas cosas a la cabeza sobre mi infancia, he sido tan feliz que tengo muchos y bonitos recuerdos. Uno de ellos son las largas horas que pasaba con mis rotuladores en cualquier lugar ya fuese habitación, coche, durante las vacaciones… Me gustaba crear mis propias historias y soñar.
¿Qué has estudiado? Gráfica publicitaria.
¿Qué te da de comer? Trabajo en una agencia de comunicación como Community Manager.
¿Quien es Dans Vogue? Yo, una persona a la que le gusta expresarse tal y como es. Aunque en ocasiones tiene algunas inseguridades siempre lucha por lo que quiere, aunque le cueste. Le gusta todo lo que tiene que ver con el arte: pintura, danza, moda, fotografía… Le encanta estar con su familia, con sus amigos aunque también viajar como una loca.
¿Cómo empezaste en el mundo blogger? Todo empezó cuando fui a vivir con mi pareja, no conocía a nadie en el barrio así que decidí llevar a cabo varias cosas. Retomar la danza, trabajo, nuevas actividades… Decidí abrir una red social donde colgaba algunas de mis fotografías diarias y mis looks, me divertía conocer personas que les gustase la moda tanto como a mi. Finalmente me decidí a abrir mi blog para expresarme de forma más extensa y publicar todo aquello que me inspira.
Háblame de tu último trabajo como blogger… Mi último trabajo ha sido un shooting para la nueva colección de joyas Wihelmina Garcia.
¿Qué representa la moda para ti? Para mi, aunque suene a tópico, es una forma de expresión. Me visto tal cual me siento ese día. Me gusta descubrir nuevos diseñadores y buscar piezas maravillosas de aquellos que fueron y son grandes. Adoro la moda vintage, pensar en la historia que tiene cada pieza, quien la llevó y por qué.
Y además dibujas. Eres ilustradora. Cuéntame más… Si, hago ilustraciones. Nací con un lápiz bajo el brazo. Gustará o no, pero para mi es una forma de evadirme, de soñar y crear aquello que se me pasa por la cabeza. Dibujaría aunque no lo viese nadie nunca.
Háblame del último dibujo que has hecho… Las últimas ilustraciones que he hecho, son para una web de madres primerizas. La web cuenta como afrontar el nacimiento de tu bebé. Yo me he encargado de reflejarlo con ilustraciones.
¿Planes para el futuro? No suelo pensar mucho en el futuro, me gusta vivir el día a día (que nunca se sabe). Pero si sueño, y mucho. Me encantaría colaborar con mis ilustraciones en alguna revista de moda. Además tengo algún proyecto en mente, pero shhh que aún es secreto.
¿Qué le pides a la vida? Ser feliz junto a las personas que quiero. ¡Es mucho!
